Golfing holidays

Designed by Patrice Lammbert, the 18 hole course at Golf St Thomas, near Beziers is a challenge to all players. The main impression that one is left with is of a place of peace and quiet due to the beautiful setting surrounded by all the different colours of nature. It is approximately 20 minutes by car from Portiragnes

From a technical point of view, while all your golf clubs are necessary to play the course, a successful round also requires intelligence and a solid game.

Ronald Fream, one of the world’s top golf course designers, created this inventive 18 hole course (par 72, 6279 metres), at Cap D'Agde approximately 15 minutes from Portiragnes. Set in colour-splashed scrubland on the Mediterranean coast, you’re not likely to forget the tricky greens, carefully protected by bunkers, or the fabulous setting.

Bird watching

"The black mountain area was well named. Running east to west. Its sharp northern face is covered by dark oak, pine and spruce forests. The east wind, full of Mediterranean moisture, becomes the "vent d'autan", a fierce hot, dry wind. This is a place for bird-watching. In autumn, it is a place to watch migrating birds of prey, songbirds and doves".

247 species of birds are known to visit the Haut Languedoc National Park. Sea or mountain birds, rare or common, travellers or year round resident birds can be seen. Short toed eagles, Tawny Owl, Wheatear, Scops Owl and sometimes the Golden eagle swoops overhead. You may see Bonelli's Eagle and many other species not just in the park, but in many remote locations between Portiragnes and the Park

Skiing in the French Pyrenees

Font Romeu can be reached by car in under 3 hours from Portiragnes.
This is the most Mediterranean of Pyrenean ski resorts. Font-Romeu is like a balcony, welcoming the sun and all those who wish to take advantage of one of the best-equipped ski areas in the Pyrenees.
